As a community we have certainly had plenty of opportunity to experience fear and uncertainty in the past few months. Many of us haven’t yet emotionally and physically recovered from the natural disasters of this summer. Recently, the focus has shifted to COVID-19. This is a genuine concern for our world and something that should be considered earnestly.
The media, both official and social, is giving us an enormous amount of information to digest and assimilate. We want to encourage you monitor your exposure and your children’s to the sensationalisation of some reporting to ensure your anxiety levels are not excessively raised. There are some great resources available to help with talking to your children about this situation.
Universal Chiropractic is committed to providing you with the best possible care in a space that is as clean and as safe as possible. We are committed to doing what we can to protect and enhance the well-being of everyone. We do feel a profound sense of responsibility, particularly for those who are vulnerable in our community, those with pre-existing conditions, the elderly, immunocompromised and our health care workers.
Unless there is a government policy to close, we will be open during this period and we are tailoring appointment times to assist some of our patients with their particular needs in this situation. Please contact us on 0411 125 637 for more information on special appointment requests.
It is important that we all practise good hygiene to protect against infection and prevent the virus spreading. You will notice, when you arrive at your appointment, we have implemented extra sanitising measures and are committed to doing what we can to protect and enhance the well-being of everyone. You will be asked to use the hand sanitising gel or wash your hands in our bathroom with soap prior to your appointment. Please note that as a side effect of this sanitisation, there will be some noticeable new fragrances.
Please make sure you are following the Australian Government Department of Health guidelines in relation to this virus. If you have returned from an overseas trip, you are required to self-isolate for 14 days. If you are sick with fever, cough or sore throat, at this stage it would be serving yourself and our community best to self-isolate and seek medical advice.
If you have any cold like symptoms, please contact our practice on 0411 125 637 to discuss these and we will assess on a case by case basis prior to making an appointment for you. You may be asked to wait in a separate area or outside or in your car if there are other patients in the clinic. Likewise if you are concerned about the waiting area, we can make arrangements that you can come straight in to see Kathy (chiropractor) without having to make contact with others.
We ask that you consider others in your health practices.
With the uncertainty of this virus and the social implications, now would be a great opportunity, whilst we are still able to provide you with care, to come in and have an adjustment. We can also discuss how we can help support your immune system in this current season.
Some things you can be doing to help support your immune system and stay healthy during this time are:
- eating a healthy diet with lots of fruit and vegetables
- getting plenty of sleep and rest
- exercise, fresh air and sunshine
- supplementing vitamin C, zinc and vitamin D
- gargling apple cider vinegar diluted in water
- staying hydrated
Whilst this is a challenging time for us all and with many of our extracurricular activities on hold, view this as an opportunity for regeneration. It is important to maintain a sense of routine whilst home and use some of this time for sleep, rest (meditation), read a book, family time, and maybe completion of some of those outstanding projects. Some home activities for children could include puzzles, crafting, sewing, gardening, yoga, backyard sports/activities and cooking.
We will keep updated with the current health advice and will endeavor to pass this along as it comes to hand. In the meantime we wish you good health, strong immunity and unity within our community.
